The Rosy Finch is an art jewelry gallery-slash-shop in the Creative District of Salida, Colorado, offering a curated selection of jewelry, fiber arts and encaustic paintings from artists here in Salida, throughout Colorado, and from all over the country. Our online portfolio will be online this spring.
Salida is a small town of about 5500 in the “Heart of the Rockies”, with fifteen 14ers arising around it, including the three highest peaks of the Rockies. The Arkansas River runs right through town.
Salida has been called “The Biggest Little Art Town in Colorado”, and is home to a wide selection of awesome restaurants and bars, an amphitheater with live music in Riverside Park, a bookstore, a yarn store, a bead store, coffee shops, 3 bike shops, numerous galleries, a luthier, a distillery (Wood’s High Mountain Distillery, run by our mayor), a skate park, 2 award-winning breweries (Soulcraft and Elevation), an airport, exceptional consignment shops, and Mt Princeton Hot Springs Resort nearby.
We are honored to be named after the elusive, sweet rosy finch. The 3 types, brown-, black- and gray-capped, are local birds of the high mountains, above timberline, with stealthy winter visits to the valleys for food. The brown-capped is found primarily in our Colorado mountains, easily identifiable with its subtle, gorgeous deep pink breast and cute bum. Sadly, populations seem to be in decline.
